Every Saturday 2019-2023, the younger students in our Tuition Scholarship Program came and were tutored. There were two small groups of students that worked with two Ugandan teachers.
In 2024, we shifted our focus to spending more time with our Amazima Secondary School students. They are at the peak of their education and due to the tough curriculum and educational system we have found that our time is most important to host them 4 days a week. During this time of study groups they have access to desk space, peer-to-peer learning, lunch, computers, internet, and a safe environment to further their education on holidays.
The Story Behind the Name Jace Taylor
June 18, 2016 is the day that Jace Taylor passed away and Founder, Heather Teague's, stepfather, Chuck Smith, received new life by receiving his heart in a heart transplant. He was 16 years old at the time and was very involved with his football team, wearing #64 on his jersey.
Heather's family never forgets what cost was involved in the blessing they received. And through this tragedy, they gained new family. In 2018, His Heart For Africa started what we call "Jace Week" where we celebrate Jace's life the week of his birthday (February 9th), to honor his memory and his family. We celebrate by blessing people extra.
When we acquired the office space in June 2019 and began raising the funds to cover the cost, we had a generous soul donate the money to cover the rent for the first year. They are the ones who asked that we name the space after Jace.
